Depression Therapy
Have you lost interest in doing the things you used to enjoy?
Do you struggle with finding motivation to accomplish your goals?
Are you at a standstill when it comes to making decisions about your life?
Is it taking everything out of you to do even the simplest tasks?
Maybe you’re doing the tasks but you’re struggling with being connected to the moment…
One of the main concerns for people who struggle with depression can be ongoing dissatisfaction or discontentment that can lead to feelings of detachment and disconnection from other people, activities, or just life itself. You may be someone who lies awake at night contemplating life decisions, frustrated with your current way of life, and scrolling mindlessly on your phone to pass the time. Days can begin to run together as you go through the motions, or you may feel exhausted after long days of “faking the funk” to get by.
There is a whole new life awaiting you, and it’s possible to start living it now. With the help of depression therapy, you can begin to feel like yourself again and have hope for tomorrow.

It has become increasingly more likely for young adults to struggle with depression.
According to research from the National Institute of Mental Health, young adults have the highest prevalence of depression compared to other age group demographics. 18.6% of people aged 18-25 reported having some form of depression since 2021 compared to an overall report of 8.3% across the human population. To put it into context, 8.3% of the population would represent 21 million people, meaning more than double that number of young adults reported struggling with depression.
While there is no single cause for depression, some common reasons that influence young adult’s prevalence of depression is in part due to history of abuse, negative thought patterns, family history, hormones, and alcohol/substance use. Additionally, there has been an increase in societal pressures to perform which in turn increases stress amongst young adults.

Depression is becoming more common but so are the benefits of therapy.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 61% of adults received depression treatment. Treatment usually lasts 50-60 minutes, and consists of skill building in areas such as communication, relationship building, being able to identify emotions, learning how to regulate emotional responses, teaching coping skills that are tailored specifically to your unique experiences, learning warning signs to prevent additional depressive episodes from occurring, and more. You will better understand yourself and your triggers.
At CoreWellness, you can expect to begin treatment with establishing a solid rapport with your therapist, providing insight into what you believe has contributed to the depressive symptoms you are experiencing as well as gaining insight from your therapists on potential influences as well. Additionally, you and your therapist work together with meeting you where you are and identifying realistic goals that can be met during therapy sessions to improve functioning outside of treatment.
Life is too valuable to not start feeling like yourself again, now.
We approach therapy from a client centered, strengths based perspective using motivational interviewing as a basis to continuously help you find the motivation and strengths within yourself to better be able to do this independently outside of sessions. We value growth, transparency, authenticity, and connection. We see you as you and help you to see you, i.e. reconnecting with your core self, to improve your daily functioning by making more intentional decisions that align with self and your goals both short term and long term. We know that it is possible to receive quality treatment that will decrease depression.

I believe therapy can help with depression, but I still have some reservations.
I already feel bad. What if therapy just makes me feel worse?
It is commonplace for clients to feel an increase in symptoms during therapy. The reason being is because you will address uncomfortable topics and emotions, in order to learn how to conquer them. We encourage clients to understand this as a pro instead of a con as without facing our fears, they will always appear bigger and stronger than they really are.
I’ve tried therapy for depression before, and it didn’t help.
Therapy is not a one size fits all approach. Different therapists offer different treatment modalities in addition to their own individual approaches to depression therapy. It’s possible that the previous therapy received was not effective due to a disconnect between you and the therapist. To help combat this, we offer free 20 minute consultations to allow you to meet the therapist and vice versa to ensure it can be a good fit. If, for whatever reason, after beginning treatment, it no longer is a good fit, we can discuss alternative options for treating depression that best fit your needs.
I have concerns for how attending therapy can cause people to see me.
Unfortunately, there can be a stigma associated with attending treatment. Fortunately, however, stigmas have as much power over us as we give them. One of our missions is to continue to break the stigma of mental health treatment by specializing in promoting mental wellness for young adults as a way to prevent the progression of the stigma surrounding depression. We have the ability to change the narrative and we teach you how to feel empowered to do the same. The bigger question is, how do you want to see yourself?
There is a new and empowered you waiting to be discovered.
Take the time to explore the therapist we have at CoreWellness, LLC to determine if someone feels they may be a good fit for you.
